I just finished high school and I have a few words to share about every teacher!?

Ms. Newman unfortunately she isn’t in the school anymore, but anyways, I have a few special words for her.
took care of us like we were her own kids. As a refugee from Ukraine, she brought warmth and a cozy vibe that made school feel like home. She had this magical ability to make everyone feel special and genuinely cared for, turning our class into a big, happy family

Ms. Meier: The Laid-Back Legend

Ms. Meier, our totally chill social studies teacher, had a knack for making school feel like a breeze. She wasn’t strict with assignments and never gave us a hard time, which made her class a favorite. Just a genuinely good person, she also talked a lot about very interesting things in society , that people don’t really shed light on , and that was really interesting to listen always!:)

Mr. Phillips: The Mind-Meld Maestro

Mr. Phillips, our psychology and sociology whiz, made every class an intriguing dive into the human mind. His laid-back style meant no stress—he was super chill about my frequent absences and late assignments. Despite me failing every other class, I somehow pulled off an 86 in his! His secret? A sense of humor that could lighten any day. Mr. Phillips always found a way to make us laugh, turning even the toughest topics into something fun. Thanks, Mr. Phillips, for being the ultimate class comedian and for all those second chances!

Mr. McKellar: The Patient Pro

Mr. McKellar was the epitome of a genuinely good person. He never really cared about my frequent absences or missing assignments., which I’m so grateful for , cuz I work like a 50 yr old grown man with a family of 10.
Despite my lack of readiness to help myself, he was always there, ready to assist me with infinite patience. Mr. McKellar’s calm and understanding nature made him a standout, even when I was at my most challenging. Thanks for being so patient and always willing to lend a hand, Mr. McKellar!

Miss Cameron: The Unexpected Favorite

When I first met Miss Cameron, I thought she was the, most evil teacher ever. Those first few months, she reacted heavily to my 5 absences per week and laziness. But as time went on, things changed, and by the end of the school year ,
I was soooooooooo sad to see her go. I never knew I could like a teacher so much, I am honestly so grateful for her! She truly cared about me, and my other lazy friend Lilia, she made every class fun, not like the other boring classes .
Thanks, Miss Cameron, for switching those ugly days into the most hilarious ones. You always made class a blast and never missed a chance to crack a joke. You went from “evil teacher” to “awesome mentor” in no time!

Miss Weiss: The Math Magician

Miss Weiss, our math wizard, completely flipped my perspective on math. Coming from Ukraine, where my last encounter with math was three years ago, I wasn’t thrilled about diving back in. But Miss Weiss worked her magic and totally turned things around. Now, I actually enjoy assignments that challenge me to think and warm up my brain. After her class, I feel like a genius—something I never thought I’d say about math! Thanks for making me feel way smarter, Miss Weiss!

Wait, and I can’t forget about my counselor Miss plant thank you for making my life easier!
And thank you to the woman who sits at the front desk at school, who took my absent or sick phone calls every day and overall thank you to Western high school for giving me so many amazing memories all these memories wouldn’t be made without each and every single person!:)

This school is an Incestous dump, they had a "contest" where they paired students with their moms for a make out session. As Concerned Citizen this makes me very concerned :(.

Teachers are actually trash less then quarter of the teachers here are actually good. who wants to go to a school where the teachers complains about marking and says slurs. I don't think threatening students and being a hypocrite are a good way to teach.
Not to mention the councilors and the staff. I email them asking questions and they only respond to one question per email. It's genuinely annoying how I had to send a councilor 5 emails because they weren't answering my questions.

so much for the "best school in Calgary". Would've had a better time at the worst school in the city then here.

I went here a decade ago and am to this day grateful for the education I’ve received. Some of the best teachers I’ve ever had: Mr. Arnot, Mr. Patterson, Mrs. Goodwin, Mrs. Rocheleau and many more. Thanks for teaching me how to be a lifelong learner!

I go to it currently (2023) as a grade 11.
The work load is fine as a regular student, sweet and simple so far. I tried taking IB courses back in 10th grade and I'll admit that its extremely stressful. it's quick, fast paced and barely gives you time to understand anything before moving forward. Most of it depends on the student's own will to learn.
If you want your child to take IB courses I advice you to make sure they're actually ready for it. In course selections it literally says that the IB program is mainly for students that want to "challenge themselves" so it isn't really important academically.
Even my teacher admits that theres no need to make yourself suffer unless you want to go to some foreign universities.
