Carver was the best middle school ever! I graduated from there 2 years ago and I still think about my wonderful experience at Carver all the time. My last day was very bitter sweet, I had worked so hard to get to that day so I was happy that I'd made it but I was so sad I was leaving because I was gonna miss everyone so much. I would recommend putting your child here but they will need to work very hard because it's everything but easy but trust me, it pays off greatly. You child will learn a lot at Carver, the teachers are great and care about their students. Putting your child in Carver will be the best thing you'll ever do for him or her.

Please disregard all of the previous reviews from former students because in all honesty they are the kids that start problems or get in trouble and never want to stick around for the consequences. Carver is not the best and it's not the worst. Academically the school is great. If you put in effort you will be rewarded. There are great teachers and then there's that one teacher that teaches but does not care about the students. There is a decent amount of homework and in most cases the kids who are complaining about it never did theirs. Now let's talk about social life around carver, that is a whole different story, there are people who are considered popular and feel better than other students but in all honesty nobody cared/cares about them or what they do because they are irrelevant. Most of them wrote horrible reviews about this school because they have nothing else to do except dwell on the past. The administration does not interfere with your life if you follow the rules and that's what some of these kids don't understand. Just follow the rules and the next 3 years will go by quick and easy. And DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT try to "fit in" because most of those people are jerks and don't care about what's actually important(SCHOOL!!!!). So just do your work and find your real friends. And for the parents, if you read the previous reviews from former students, those kids never cared about their school work and are trying to make the school look bad.

Carver is a school where children are expected to spend 3 years of their lives in and as I have now finally graduated from those horrific three years I can now share my experience. I noted some comments said to disregard the others, but this is coming from the bottom of my heart.
The classes are some of the most advanced and difficult classes a middle schooler can take. In some ways its beneficial because the teachers do teach the curriculum, but the test that teachers give tend to be completely unrelated to the classroom material and students find that cheating is the only way to pass. Most of the time teachers also tend to give way to much homework in a short amount of time or give projects that are so outrageously stressful and long.
The teachers in Carver are hands down the most disrespectful pieces of trash you will ever meet with some exceptions. I have been picked on by numerous teachers for doing things I have not done and teachers refuse to let me speak. I've had this problem more times than necessary and this is what made my Carver experience so dreadful. If it were up to me, the teaching staff would be almost completely fired and replaced. Not to mention some teachers were stuck into classes that have nothing to do with their specialty meaning the teachers spend the entire year talking about something they don't even know about (example: a musical history/band teacher teaching U.S. history)
The staff at carver was not the best the not the worst. The dress code is too strict and i think administration needs to understand that hoodies do not mean that we are trying to rebel against the school. The staff can be understanding at times, but also very disrespectful to students wishes. They have a difficult time understanding what it is that the students want and what they think is best for the school. A main thing that will help the administration pay attention to you and respect you is to not break any rules and stay out of trouble and having a good reputation never hurts. The counselors (to me) were very helpful when needed, but they liked me personally and I have heard other people's stories about how they are not as nice and loving as they were with me.
My overall experience was terrible. The teachers made my life a living hell and I will never forget all the stress and crying and panic attacks caused by these teachers. There were some teachers who made my experience slightly more tolerable, but there are drastic changes that need to be made in this school. I wish all the best for this school because it will hold a special place in my heart. I might all of my best friends here and we bonded and I can only thank carver for that. Besides this, without some major changes, this school will remain the school with the highest amount of cheating students, the most disrespectful staff, and the nastiest classrooms and bathrooms. I sincerely do hope that changes are made to make future students have better experiences.

Okay well, if you are planning on taking your child to this school then sure, go ahead. To be honest I dont have any context to what a good middle school is and what a bad middle school is. I've only been to one middle school and it's this one. There are some really chill and caring teachers but there are also some teachers that are all dried up. These teachers have no passion in them anymore, which really disconnects the student from what they are learning. In my personal opinion, Carver is a good school that while it might have some problems isn't a bad choice for your child to go to. I personally made great friends here and never felt a lot of stress even though I was in German IE (I believe it's the hardest program). Dadeschools is somewhat corrupt so we can't blame everything on the school, blame the district 🙂 -Lucas Gonzalez

I do not want to say neglect for that would be to harsh, but PLEASE DO DISREGARD some of the other comments. There is some truth in most of the one star reviews, yet as a student who actually cares about school, academically Carver is a pretty great school. I didn't study for the tests given to 6th grade students to be able to take advanced classes such as Algebra 1 and Physical science, but luckily my test scores were high enough to get in. I strongly encourage those students coming in to please study for those tests. The teachers for the advanced classes are THE BEST, because you learn more and don't have to deal with the other teachers (who I've been expressed to by other students aren't the best). Except for one teacher, Ms. Agudelo who was my geometry teacher this past school year, WHO DID NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH, (which really stresses intelligent children) all other teachers for the advanced classes are great!!! As for the social aspect honestly do not try to fit in with the "popular" because they are irrelevant unless you want stupid drama, but apart from this there isn't as much bullying as in other middle schools. Yes they give stupid referrals, although I never received one . I found best friends that I know wouldn't have found in any other middle school, they had the same interests and we had the best memories! I would not have chosen any other school even with all the stressful times! Class of 2017

I still remember the first day of school for my daughter, she was so happy. She had her 3rd year, or last year at this school this year, and until the last day of school she was happy, but she was also sad because she was leaving.
This school has been an unforgettable experience for her.
This school does have a lot of HW and a lot of projects, but the teachers there help a lot, it's incredible, they really care about their students, that's something you don't see at a normal Middle School.
So if you're thinking about sending your kid to this school, send them, you won't regret it.

Let’s just say Carver is a train wreck of good and bad, socially and academically. When you hear that this is one of the best schools in the state, let me tell you that many people cheated their way to success, and get away with it, just because everyone thinks that since this is the best school, students must have the decency. I’ve never talked much with the administration, but based on other reviews and my classmates’ complaints, I assume they’re not the best at understanding our problems. They’re probably not always in the mood to actually listen or talk. Also, remember that although it’s just middle school, you can’t rely on everyone around you when you ask them something. Not everyone knows what’s right, even adults. Oftentimes, Carver is a bunch of people pretending like they know what they’re doing, thinking they know what they’re doing, and then screwing up. Some teachers don’t care about their students or their stress. Some teachers don’t teach. Then it’s up to you to sort everything out. Or you can do it the way everyone else does it, and cheat. Don’t do that. No matter what class you’re taking, it’s not hard to the point where you need to cheat.
On the other hand, Carver’s got some of the best people I’ve ever met. Some of the teachers will understand your problems, some of them will make you feel like you have a reason to be here, and some of them will do a better job of teaching than you’d expect. I think bullying is not so big of an issue here, because we go by the idea that we’re all suffering under the same hell, we’re all doing the same stuff, so why bother to pick on each other, when we can just make things easier for everyone? Because even if the day was disastrous and we made it to the finish line in a sloppy race, let’s be real, we’re still suffering all the same, we still made it to the end, and we did it together. Embrace that.
I can’t say these were the best three years of my life, but for some people, they would relive these three years in a heartbeat. If you’re coming to Carver, it really depends on who you are as a person, what classes you’ll take, what teachers you’ll have, what kinds of friends you’ll make, and who you choose to be. Maybe it’ll be a nightmare for you, but it’ll get better with each day as you count down to your eighth grade graduation. Good luck.

Literally dreaded everyday for the three years I attended this school. The administration is horrible. Theres about 4 teachers who I've actually learned from. The issues with the uniform is ridiculous. We can't wear hoodies Bc " we have to make sure you go to this school". What's our student ID for then? The school itself is ugly and dirty and extremely prison like. The administration might win over you parents but take it from the kids who actually experienced this, don't do this to your children. They're better off being homeschooled or something. The only reason why our test scores are so high is Because we have to result to cheating and copying because teachers don't teach. Everything ab the school is depressing and uninteresting. All the administration teaches us is how to stress us out about testing because they need to keep they're "great" reputation. They don't care about the students attending their school which should be their main concern? Don't ruin your child's middle school experience. Carver is not the "amazing" school you may think it is. Everyone here is so relieved to be leaving this hellhole. I don't think any parent should do that to their children:/ #carversucks
