The fitness centre / gym at this college is awful. Although it's a 'public gym', they do not treat their members as so. I attended this gym for over two years due it's convenient location and had so many issues with the gym since joining.

Opening hours were rarely stuck to. The gym is supposed to be open at 7am and there were many occasions where I would arrive at 7am and the gym doors would be locked. As there is no one working at the fitness centre at that time, there is literally no way to gain access. I emailed staff many times about this and they would say someone did arrive after 7am to open and sign in, but I had better things to do that to wait around for someone who may or may not turn up. One time I waited 25 minutes for someone to open the gym before giving up.

I also felt the fitness centre lacked communication with the security team. When the gym would be inaccessible, the security team would say it's not their job to open the doors and even in some cases, some members of security wouldn't grant me access to the gym for 'safety reasons' at 7am as there was no gym staff there. I also felt caught in between the gym staff, security and cleaners as they all battled to avoid responsibility for opening the gym. The fitness centre would say security were supposed to open it before 7am, and the security team would say it's the cleaners or the fitness centre who need to open it. You can imagine my confusion being told completely different things when trying to find a solution. Also, why should it fall to paying service members to find a solution to the fitness centre's problems?

Communication with members was also awful and was the final straw that pushed me to leave for another gym. I attended the gym after being away for the week and found the gym to be closed. Security said it was closed and they didn't know why. I emailed the fitness centre and they said they advertised it was closed on that day in the gym. When I pressed that people may have missed that notice entirely they said that 'they don't have the capacity or time to contact all the members individually'. This was baffling to me. The gym is a 'public' gym and we pay to use the service like any other gym. This comes with expectations that all members have a right to know when they won't be able to use the service they're paying for. It's also baffling that they don't have an email list of all the members so that they can contact in case of events like I mentioned above. At this point I realised that paying members of this gym will not be treated as such and I then decided to leave and attend a gym further away as I know I'll be treated with respect and have peace of mind that I'll be able to access the services when I want.

I complained many many times about the issue mentioned above and was shown a lack of accountability by the gym staff. Over the two years I was at the gym I estimate that I missed around 2 months of gym sessions due to the reasons above. I asked the gym for a refund for a month minimum and I was completely ignored.

If you're looking for a reliable gym you can fit into your daily routine, I would heavily advise you look elsewhere. This gym is unpredictable and the staff are unhelpful.

worst college you could ever go to. even if you failed your gcses do not go to this college unless you do not care about your future. worst teachers are here, they are rude and not professional barely even doing work and they get biased towards students. do not come here unless you like to deal with unnecessary drama. only few teachers are nice but that does not compare to the rude ones count. horrible college with horrible teachers

this college is awful. teachers treat you like a joke, pick on the students that aren't as good as others, rub in your face that so and so is better than you, say they'll do things to help and never happens. they closed the google classrooms over a day early so i couldnt submit some of my work. they ignore emails. only good teacher in that college is clare warren, and she was on leave for majority of this year sadly.

I am a Muslim lady and am a student in this college yet I faced extreme racism from their member of staff , he kept laughing at me everytime I asked a question and sarcastically asked me “are you okay”, while laughing at me, it’s very disrespectful because as a Muslim lady I felt like he was being discriminative to me bcz of the way I was dressed in abaya . Very racist and very rude behavior .

This College has stolen £2712 pounds from me!! They led me to believe I was taking a course and never registered my with Pearsons exam board then cancelled the course after one year keeping the money!!

I started at Barking and Dagenham College doing a Level 4 HNC Construction and Built Environment Course in Sept 2022, Alan Burgess was Department Head of Construction whom I met at my induction day got me onto the course, I didn’t have the qualifications for this course I when to the college to apply for a level 3 but because of my experience in the industry Alan pushed for me to get onto the Level 4 my company was then made to pay in full on the day despite being told later by the admin office that this was not normal protocol. The course was also set to start in January, and he pushed for me to start in September also.

Once I started, I quickly discovered that I was put into a class with people that had two units left and had been called back to finish the course. They then had an agency cover Polycarp Kidzu for Mohammed shah who was off on long term sickness, who assured me that the units where the same every year and we would start on them. Come January no new students had started, and my tutor had not returned a few weeks go by and Mohammed Shah had returned. He explains to me this would be a temporary measure and the college where in the process of hiring a new tutor so the work I had done would be marked by them when they start. I had Mohammed for the remainder of the year, and he marked one of my units which I never received a grade for and the other I was unable to complete due to him not arranging time to do the science experiment.

Upon my return to the college, I discovered that I had no timetable and the college had cancelled my course whilst I was halfway through it. I then met with Karol Jones who suggested I apply to another college, and they would refund me one year throughout dealing with the college I also discovered that when I started, they should have registered me with Pearson the course provider and they should give me deadlines and specific assessments to complete throughout my course to which the college hadn’t they were pulling them from the example specification online which I later learnt is incorrect. They hadn’t even register me with them they have carried me through for the year and forgot about me as I am the only one in the class then cancelled me and washed their hands of me.

Got jumped a month ago by some girls in my year and got my phone stolen, for being accused of calling her friend fat, which I never did. I liked this college because I established an amazing friendship group, however be careful who you talk to there and who you meet, some people are really really really nasty. Unfortunately am not going back there, if your gonna send your child here, just make sure they are safe, I didn’t feel safe.
